Workplace Wellbeing Report

With workplace wellbeing finally earning its place at the board table in many organisations, there has been an increase in the introduction of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) in the office.

"We must dig deeper to understand barriers to entry and proactively address them in our solutions and internal communications, to ensure engagement in an EAP."

There are some fantastic Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) on offer that offer myriad benefits to employee health and wellbeing. But are employees making the most of them? Are they getting the support they need? Are you seeing return on your investment?

Our primary research suggests that while they're often put in place with good intentions, EAPs get poor usage from employees. That means their impact and effectiveness are seriously limited, affecting both wellbeing and productivity.

We believe more consistent and engaging efforts are needed by employers to encourage employees to take advantage of EAP services and ultimately to help support colleague health and wellbeing. Employers have a responsibility to do this as a key actor in the lives of colleagues, and it's our belief that they should be part of the movement towards encouraging proactive, preventative health behaviours, including via an EAP.

In this report we look at what's stopping employees from using EAPs and some simple steps employers, especially comms and HR teams, can take to aid awareness of and uptake of EAPs, and other similar workplace wellbeing interventions.
