Hey Erik! We welcome Erik Winterburn to the ThreeTenSeven creative team as a Designer. Erik returns to Yorkshire after working in Bristol and Glasgow and brings with him strong typo skills, a passion for design as a force for good and a fair turn of speed down the left wing. How's it going Erik?
- Tell us about your life before TTS
I studied at UWE Bristol after finishing my college course at Leeds College of Art. There, I learn how to think about design in holistic, practice-lead and sometimes irreverent ways. After that I spent a couple of years in the design industry in Sheffield and since then dived back into education with a postgraduate course in Glasgow. Since then, I’ve been working freelance for some studios in the north. - What brought you to TTS?
A desire to work with other people within a physical space again. I missed the camaraderie and studio atmosphere greatly over the last few years working remotely and on my own as a freelancer. ThreeTenSeven also shared my general design views about working with change makers in society and working with decent, fair and ethical people. - What are you bringing to TTS?
A mean aubergine parmigiana! But in terms of design; a wide range of different technical skills and a good work ethic. - How's your first week been?
It’s been great to be thrown straight into some live projects right away. Every studio I’ve worked for does things slightly differently, and I’m a believer that you learn best by doing. So it’s been exciting and challenging! - What have been the best bits?
Having a lunch bought for you on the first day is pretty hard to beat! But generally getting stuck into projects and getting to know everyone has been a positive experience. - What are you doing after work?
Either playing football for my team, Republica Internationale or cooking something.
